For almost every company that has a product used in PGA Tour has a tournament responsible for getting this product in the hands of a player.
Some are more popular, like those for large OEMs like Decent, Ping, Taylormade And the title, working on calling on their staff players for golf clubs. But there are also reps like Charles Woodward, who carries seven different brands in PGA Tour, from Softspots BY Bushnell rangefindersAnd he’s doing it for two decades now.
In this full -fitted Golf episode, Woodward looked back in his time in PGA Tour and discovered what changed the most for his work.
“I think maybe the biggest difference is the number of team members that players have with them,” Woodward said. “When I first came out, no one used the departure monitor, really. I mean, maybe a little Trackman, but it was a very slow process.
“And then you can see a shaky coach here or there, but I mean, the guys (now) have their managers, they have a shaky coach, a mental coach. It is really extraordinary. And then the way things behind the scenes with the way equipment enterprises interact with players, and reps have changed.”
Woodward said when players try the shaft now, a rep from the shaft company will provide the axis, but are reps from OEM and the rest of the player’s siege that will handle the test process.
This is something that fully endowed co-worker Johnny Wunder has also noticed and he said the change really only began in the last 5-10 years. He stressed a golf player that he knows who travels with four or five people who are there to serve him alone.
“Funny funny to hear that Times have changed so much from 2005, like, you know, I remember having a coach, if you are a PGA Tour player and if you had a coach traveling with you weeks, it was like a great story,” Wunder said.
