Welcome Play awakeA regular golf.com game-improvement column that will help you become a smartest, best golf player.
This year I have stressed – sometimes in an obsessive amount of the boundary line – my placement. In winter, I pledged to do 2025 year of bases, and I have done my best to adhere to this plan all summer.
Why the obsession with the boring bases? Because they are the foundation of any good golf oscillations. If you do not have the bases nailed, you are severely limiting your ceiling. Whenever you go to see a shaky coach, the first thing they will do is check the basics – staying, behavior, stretching, control, etc. Sometimes the issue with your swing comes from a mistake before you get the club too.
Given this, I am always trying to get better in my pre-store bases-and this involves looking for advice from some of the best teachers in the game around them. Such a conversation came with Top 100 Golf teacher Jeff Smith last winter in Cabot Citures farms. During our conversation, Smith gave me a quick checklist to pass before each blow to make sure the bases were taken care of.
Use this configuration checklist for guaranteed solid contact
Hitting a beautiful flat lie is always preferable to hit a kind of slope, but in this game, you will encounter some uneven lies. And when this happens, you need to make some adjustments in your configuration to make sure you will generate strong contact.
1. Stabilize your base
The first things first, you need to create a steady basis in your downhill The foot when you hit a lift, this will be your foot of the trail and vice versa for downslopes. Find the descending leg and make sure it is stable before doing anything else.
“If I don’t do that, I can move and swim down the hill once I start moving,” Smith says. “And now there is no chance for me to find that golf ball.”
2. Make the slope level
Your next step will be to get the shoulder level with the slope. If you are on an upper lift, glue your shoulders back, and if you are at a discount, glue them forward.
“You want to match the shoulder line with the earth’s line,” says Smith.
3. Set your club length
Yes, every individual club will always be of the same length but in effect The length of the club can change based on the slope you are coming out. So, after stabilizing your base and leveling your shoulders, you can decide where you will keep the club in syllable.
“Pour your arms and hang them naturally,” says Smith. “And so we will find the length of the club.”
With your naturally hanging arms, you can now put the club in your hands and determine where in the syllable you will keep the club based on the low point of your arc swing from the uneven lie.
“For every stroke that is different, if I have the same process with three steps, all of a sudden, I have the right club length to reach the ball lightly, but I don’t have much time to climb it to the ground,” says Smith.
4. Determine the ball position
Now that you have the right length of the club, you need to determine where the ball should be placed. For this, you need to make some practical oscillations and find the bottom of your shaking arch.
“Once I find the end, here I will put my ball,” says Smith. “
waddle
It may seem tedious to go through this checklist before any shakes, but when you face an uneven blow, it can be a player. This control list gets the assumptions from your configuration, so by the time you swing the club, you don’t have to worry about making more adjustments. You can simply swing and know that you will make solid contacts.
