Great catch by Chris Jordan to sack Johnson Charles
The moment of brilliance came in the 13th over of SLK’s innings, the TKR pacer. Jayden Seales delivered a length ball outside off. A free-swinger, Charles tried to smash the delivery over long-on, but mistimed it and took it off the top of the bat. The ball looked to have gone over the boundary, but a long-range Jordan flicked it to perfection. He plucked the ball out of the air to deny Charles a century and secure a crucial breakthrough for TKR. Charles hit 89 off just 40 balls, including seven fours and eight big sixes.

Saint Lucia Kings post mammoth total
Despite the loss of Charles, Saint Lucia Kings posted a mammoth total of 218/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Charles was the star of the innings, providing a brilliant start, while the other SLK batsmen contributed to the magnificent result.
Trinbago Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard also played a vital role in the latter stages of the innings, picking up four crucial wickets to stem the flow of runs.
In reply, Trinbago Knight Riders tried to keep pace with the lofty target. Their batting faltered against a disciplined SLK bowling attack and they were in deep trouble at 138/9 in the 18th over. The pursuit received another blow while moving all-out Dwayne Bravowho came into bat after the ninth wicket, was injured after facing only two deliveries. When Bravo failed to continue and the team was already nine wickets behind, TKR’s innings was effectively declared, giving Saint Lucia Kings an 80-run victory.
For his breathtaking batting performance, Charles was narrowly adjudged Man of the Match for his century. His powerful knock laid the foundation for SLK’s dominant victory, which keeps them firmly in contention in CPL 2024.
