The WBA will evaluate the status of their 135 -pound belt after today’s announcement that champion Gerrvonta Davis will fight on November 14 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tank’s title status in question
Tank (30-0-1, 28 CO’s) was ordered by the WBA to Lamont Roach jr. (25-1-2, 10 COs) face to clean up the controversy over their 12 round on March 1. According to ESPN Salvador Rodriguez, the WBA will analyze the situation with tank. It is unclear whether they will pull a tank or create an interim belt on which Roach can fight.
The Belt decision of $ 40 million
With the money Gervonta will get from the fight against Jake Paul, the WBA will not lose. Davis’ estimated wallet for the Paul battle is $ 40 million. It will be easy for Davis to regain his 135-pound WBA title when stripped. He is still one of the best fighters in the lightweight section, and was able to chase to the title or the other held by Raymond Muratalla or Shakur Stevenson.
Tank was lucky not to lose his WBA title to Roach. He was blown out in the battle in the fight and surprisingly eliminated. In ninth place, the tank went down in a delayed response from a stitch by Roach. He then got up and walked to his corner to clear his eyes of what he claimed was fat.
It turned out to be fans that he stopped, but referee Steve Willis chose not to stop the competition or count the Knockdown. After that gloomy performance, it is surprising that Tank agreed to fight Roach again.
Syrup Gerrvonta Davis’s title?
“WBA will analyze the status of Gervonta Davis as lightweight champion after announcing an exhibition with Jake Paul. A rematch against Lamont Roach was ordered after a controversial draw. Should they deprive him of the belt? Can they make room for an interim title?” Say Salvador Rodriguez on ESPN Knockout.
