Hitchins’ ‘Best in the World’ claims: Is he just chasing big money fights?

Richardson Hitchins boasts on social media today and calls himself “’The best in the world. “ IBF Light Welterweight Champion Hitchins (20-0, 8 COs) still have to prove itself if anywhere on the planet at 140.

Richardson’s recent knockout of George Kambosos Jr. The eighth round was not a big win to give him the status as the ‘best in the world’ in that section. In a recent interview, Hitchins said he wanted to fight WBO champion Theofimo Lopez with a unification.

Richardson cannot prove that he is the best in the world at 140 if he is focused only on money and is unwilling to fight these top fighters:

If hitchins can’t get theofimo, he’s open to moving to 147 to fight Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Manny Pacquiao or Brian Norman JR. In other words, he just wants the big money fights that would pay millions.

Without Turki Alalshikh engaging, Richardson Hitchins’ chances of fighting against any of the fighters are virtually non -existent. He was probably not serious about WBO swelling champion Brian Norman Jr.

The best solution for Hitchins’ problem is to stay at 140 and focus on defending his IBF title against the best contender he can get. It would be someone like Puello or Mercado. The guys would jump on the chance to fight Hitchins if he battle them. He may not want to. We saw Gustavo Lemos come near Hitchins with the pressure he put on him. Mercado and Puello can do much more.
