MONTREAL – The conversation turns to Sunday, though it’s now Monday. They are playing pro golf, but the conversation is about pro football.

About Tom Brady. The goat-turned-TV analyst apparently still dominates the conversation, even if he’s just spouting nouns and verbs now, instead of pigskins. Or at least TB12 did here, on Montreal’s royal 12th green, as four Americans prepared for Thursday’s tee. Presidents Cupwhich pits the US against the best in the world outside of Europe every two years.

“Did any of you understand what Tom Brady said yesterday?” said the caddy Ted Scottwhose employer, the world’s no Scottie Scheffleris currently shredding golf courses on a similar level as Brady once did defenses. Scott then continued his anecdote about Brady’s thoughts on Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys-Baltimore Ravens game, and laughter ensued from Scheffler and Sam Burns, a teammate of Scheffler’s this week and a close friend.

The relationships here are several. First, Brady is asking at least some people to suit up, though whether he’s worth nine figures is a debate to be argued on another website. This, of course, is a golf article. And the thinking in golf is that the quick back-and-forth offered a glimpse into the Scheffler-Scott dynamic, which shouldn’t be underestimated in the rise of the pros — and that the American mood seemed light on Monday, when spectators were limited to different officials. and a handful of journalists.

Including this one, he hopes to offer 17 more observations in the coming week in the paragraphs to follow.

In Brady’s words then, let’s goooo!

2. If you are in the history of this event, know that the American side won 12 out of 14 games of the Cup, losing once and drawing once. However, this also fascinated me. This is the second time that Royal Montreal hosts, after 2007, that they are remembered Tiger Woods was defeated on Sunday singles by Mike Weirthis year’s captain, on Weir’s home soil.

Two years later at the Presidents Cup and 15 years ago now, Woods and partner Steve Stricker then beat Weir and partner Tim Clark in a match – with Woods authoring the club spin on his way to sealing things, which can see below.

3. More stories!

Also in the 2007 event, during Friday’s four-ball play while attempting to drive the par-4 14th hole, Woody Austin hit his tee into the water on the left side of the fairway, then this happened in his second move – and he became known as Aquaman:

4. You will hear about the strike this week.

On Monday afternoon, Golf Channel analyst Johnson Wagner was scouting the area and then sampled the swing later in the day, which could look here. He has been fantastic at recreating the shots live.

5. Soon after Wagner looked at the place, the author did. It’s a big drop.

However, the water was warm.

6. MORE stories!

Just five Americans – Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele – were on the 2021 squad that rolled the Euros into the Ryder Cup.

The following year, LIV Golf took off prominently.

7. It’s likely this week to discuss how US captain Jim Furyk and international captain Weir feel about The latest announcement from the PGA of America that LIV players can be selected for the US team.

The Presidents Cup, of course, is hosted by the PGA Tour – which has been in a three-season battle with LIV.

8. Should the Presidents Cup be a mixed event? USA Solheim Cup Captain Stacy Lewis thought so.

“To be honest, I’d like to see the Presidents Cup mixed,” she said two weeks ago. “It’s the perfect way to combine two tours. The international team will improve very quickly.

“I think it would be amazing to have two tournaments together like that.”

9. If you’re wondering if the pay-per-play storyline from last year’s Ryder Cup will continue, know that players will not be paid in the Presidents Cup.

Here’s the official word, from the President Cup pagein the “Frequently Asked Questions” section:

“The Presidents Cup is a biennial global team competition between the United States and an international team representing the rest of the world with the exception of Europe. Competition alternates between locations in the US and abroad. The Presidents Cup is a unique golf event in that there is no purse or prize money. Players are not paid for their participation, but each contestant distributes an equal share of the funds generated to the charity of their choice. Since the Presidents Cup began in 1994, more than $56.4 million has been generated in event revenue. Over the past 25 years, the Presidents Cup has impacted more than 475 charities in 18 countries around the world. Cognizant and Rolex are the exclusive global partners of the President’s Cup.”

10. On that note, the following are Cantlay’s thoughts in this year’s clothing.

11. Speaking of articles of clothing, Keegan Bradley’s caddy, Scott Vail, was questioning Scheffler about his shoes as he walked after a shot, at one point gesturing in the manner of Scheffler’s slide.

Scheffler assured him that the grips on his shoes were good.

12. If you’re up for some Presidents Cup reading, Furyk looked fired up this article here BY Golfweek’s Adam Schupak.

13. And Golf Digest’s Shane Ryan makes the case this article here that the Presidents Cup will one day be bigger than the Ryder Cup.

14. That being said Min Woo Lee is a well-known international star.

15. That being said Sahith Theegala is the famous American star.

16. Here’s hoping Max Homa gets out.

Should he, assistant captain Kevin Kisner promises to remove the tarpTO BODIES two weeks ago at the Solheim Cup.

17. So who wins this?

Our Confidential Tour Band has they say here. If you’re in doubt, as of Monday afternoon, BetMGM lists the US at -250 and the Internationals at +260 (and a draw at +1,400)

me? No guesswork here. But if you believe in the depth of talent, the world rankings will tell you that it favors the Americans (USA: Scottie Scheffler, No. 1; Xander Schuaffele, No. 2; Collin Morikawa, No. 4; Wyndham Clark, No. 6, No. 13, No. 25, No. 34, Min Woo;

If you believe in the home course advantage, this should go down in the international book. The Canadian Open every year is a celebration. This Thursday through Sunday should be bountiful.

18. On that note, the Avis rental car booths Monday at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport were all out of cars. The reason a cashier told a poor soul ahead of me in line:

“A golf tournament.”
