Queensberry has signed Joshua Buatsi, a light heavyweight contender on their stable. The former 175-pound WBO tussentage champion and the 2016 Olympic Buatsi fights will now be displayed directly on Dazn.
Buatsi’s performance problems
Queensberry promoter Frank Warren has great hope for 32-year-old Buatsi, despite his poor performances in his last two fights against Callum Smith and Willy Hutchinson. Buatsi spoke away in both fights, but was happy with a win over Hutchinson.
Warren has the idea of being able to fit Buatsi against the winner of the David Banavidez against Anthony Yarde Fight on November 22 for the WBC Light Heavyweight title, or the victor of the Dmitri Bivolol against Artur Bererbiev Trilogy. Buatsi is unlikely to be shot at one of the fights.
Joshua Buatsi’s popularity problem
The problem is that Buatsi has never been a popular fighter, and he had problems in his last two fights. He is not regarded as a must a kind of opponent for benavidez or biblical to want to fight. Buatsi is seen as a regular British fighter on the mill. There is nothing special about him. Surprisingly, Warren chose to sign him after his horrible loss of Callum Smith. He looked ready for the scrap pile after the fight.
Strengthening fori’s profile
Warren must Buatsi by a Gauntlet of predators at 175 For him to make fans interested in being used for a world title. Fight guys like Craig Richards, Hutchins, Smith and Dan Azeez are not enough. Buatsi should fight against the talented younger fighters like David Morrell and Imam Khataev.
If he can’t get it, Warren must attract some of the Super Middleweights such as Osley Iglesias, Diego Pacheco or Christian Mbilli to 175 to fight Buatsi. I can’t see him beating one of the super -middle weights, but these are the types of fighters he needs to fight to become more popular.
