Theofimo Lopez has placed an old sparring cut in which he eliminates a slower, careful Shakur Stevenson. You can see the difference in power and determine the accuracy between theofimo’s shots and the slower Shakur. If the cut is an indication of how a fight between them would play, it would be a mismatch in favor of Lopez.
The two fighters have been going back and forth on social media since last Friday when Shakur (24-0, 11 cost) and says, ‘I saw you say you want to fight me, Theofimo Lopez. What stops this from happening next? It’s no bluff. Let’s make boxing amazing again, ‘Lil theo’.
Expected pay days: Lopez, Stevenson
Lopez seems to agree to a fight against Stevenson later and say, “Okay.” It still has to be seen whether he was serious. Even if he is, the negotiation of the fight would require a lot of work. It will have to engage Turki Alalshikh for Theofimo (22-1, 13 COs) to get the kind of payday he would expect to receive for a fight of that magnitude.
Lopez got $ 10 million for his title defense of his WBO Light Welterweight Belt against Arnold Barboza Jr. On May 2 at Times Square in New York. For a collision against Shakur, Theofimo is likely to want in the $ 15 million region. Whatever Teo gets, Stevenson would expect similar money.
Stevenson’s battle entertainment value
Entertainable Stevenson would not be worth paying the kind of money. Even in Shakur’s last fight when he parked himself with his back against the ropes against William Zepeda, it was still not exciting to look at. Shakur mostly tried to block incoming fire and occasionally throw a one -time pot shot. It was never combinations.
If theofimo just crawls around with Shakur, it will disappoint for fans. Many of them get all their hope.
It’s his best highlights from it 😂😂😂 bet you won’t drop the whole video https://t.co/afinx1vg3s
