2025 USATF outside. Joe Kovacs still thrown away and still looking for more by DeJi Ogeingbo
Joe Kovacs does not throw applause. Well, she doesn’t even get out of such a person. He throws because he believes that there is always something to pursue something. 35 in the world’s two titles, three-time Olympic silver, and now in 2025. The world leader, you can argue his legacy is safe. Someone still gets.
But Kovacs don’t talk like a man but more like it. Kovacs shipped the best throw in the world this year at Eugenen Prefontaine Classic this year, 22.48 m. It was his fourth preliminary classic title, and the third in a row. He does that for more than a decade, but nothing feels about his presence. In fact, she looks better than ever. “This place brings it from you,” he said. “You feel it’s a premium when you come here. Everyone in the crowd knows what 22 meters means. They are applauded. That understanding, that respect, lives him.

So the story? Kovacs are none of the one who goes from the past. He talks about Rofa and Adam Nelson, as they are still in the ring. He remembers that he went to the camp in high school, where Hoffa looked at him in the eye and said: “You are very short to slide. Try to spin. ” The Kovaches did, and it changed his life. So when Hofa had a preference this year, Kovacs looked and shocked. “I’m making every good throw, I say it’s his fault.” But throwing Evgen was more than Nostalgia. It was the power, accuracy and rhythm that all gathered together at the right time.
Kovaches said he didn’t even feel like all his attempts, which only became more meaningful. “When you miss the throw and it’s still going away, it tells you where your base is located. And that’s you excited. ” He builds it.
Earlier meetings are solid, but not spectacular this season. A 20.79 m in Hull, 21.52 m in Nebat, 21.59 m in Rome. He won Estonia with 21.13 m. All those signs were good, but not so much, what does he expect about himself? He entered Evgen, needing a key point. He found one. What is it that keeps Kovacs even now how she talks about work? He is aware that his body is not so forgiving as on time. He is also smarter.
He knows what to do to keep his body in argument. “When I rest, can I get the ball?” He said. “And when I can whip it goes.”
His partnership with his wife and coach, with Ashley Kovachce, is most of the process. They collect twins together, traveling together and work with rhythm, which is more like a family operation than coaching. “I wouldn’t do it without him,” he said. “And I wouldn’t want to.”

That balance between home and sports, between experience and hunger, is why he is still going. He knows how special this time is. He knows the arrows now come a little more reflection. But the goals have not changed. He wants to make the US team for Tokyo. He wants another global medal. She wants to be the guy that still stands when the best is displayed. And it will not be easy.
Ryan Crouser is this season (Ryan Crouser is farewell to world champions and recovers from injury), but American shot remains deep.

Eugene, Oregon, USA
July 15-26, 2022
Shot Put, Crouster, USA, Kovacs, USA
New names regularly push the past 21 meters.
The standard is also high in the world. But the Kovaches does not follow the others.
He follows his own rhythm. He knows what he is able to. “Now the goal is the apple when it counts.”
