De la Hoya predicts ‘Brutal’ KO for Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson in lightweight unification

Oscar de la Hoya says he sees that Gerrvonta Davis Shakur Stevenson in a “Brutal” Fashion if two ever met in a unification fight at lightweight. Davis gained power to Ko Shakur with a single shot. William Zepeda bumped Stevenson with a right hand in their battle on July 12, and he is not considered a big puncher.

Turki Eyes Davis-Stevenson Unification

Turki Alalshikh is interested in a fight between the WBC champion, 135 pounds, Stevenson (24-0, 11 COs) and WBA champion Tank Davis (30-0-1, 28 COs). It is unknown whether he can convince Tank to fight.

Shakur has been for the fight since he moved to the lightweight division in 2023. He seems to think that it will ratify him and validate him to the top of the division. Even if Shakur wins, fans would demand that he beat more than just Tank to prove that he is #1.

Davis has lost much of his game due to inactivity, poor opposition and not dedicated to his crafts over the years. The way the tank looked at Lamont Roach in his recent 12 round was nowhere near the fighter he had been three years before.

Tank still has the power to strike Shakur if he lands, but it will be almost impossible for him to join because of the movement the native of New Jersey will do.

If Stevenson did win, he would crow over the victory and tell the supporters that it is his proof that he is #1 on lightweight. The reality is that Shakur must beat these fighters to prove that he is #1:

Without beating them, Stevenson would pretend to be the best, and hope fans would buy his talk without having to take the risks to prove that he is the best.
