Shakur Stevenson says the only way he would go up to 140 is if he won the 135 pound division. He believes that he will not grow in the light welterweight section. Stevenson (24-0.11 food) mentions that its purpose is to be ‘One of the best lightweights’ In history.

Shakur vs boxing legends
It is very unlikely that Shakur will ever become one of the ‘best lightweight’ of all time in the true sense, because he does not have the everyday game. He is all defense and very little offense.
If you have followed the boxing sport over the years, you will know that Stevenson will never even be in the top -10 of the biggest lightweights because he does not have the offense/defense balance in his game. It takes more than defense to make the list of the best light weights of all time.
The best lightweights of all time
Pernell whitaker
Henry Armstrong
Joe goose
Benny Leonard
Carlos Ortiz
Ike Williams
Tony canzoneri
Julio César Chávez
Roberto Durán
Edwin Rosario
José Luis RamÃrez
Héctor camacho
Oscar de la hoya
Floyd Mayweather jr.
Manny Pacquiao
Imagine what the lightweight version of De la Hoya would have done to Shakur if he fought in this era. It wouldn’t be pretty. How about Mayweather or Pacquiao? When they fought against lightweight, they quickly flowed and had excellent power. You can’t compare Shakur with one of the fighters or the other on the list.
“I don’t see that I’m not bigger to fight at 140 pounds. If I did, it would be: ‘Okay, I did everything at 135. I have won the division, and now it’s time to move up, ” Shakur Stevenson told Night herb. “I want to be one of the best lightweights of all time.”
Stevenson’s match choices
If Shakur wants to be one of the best lightweights, why did he fight against William Zepeda, Josh Padley and Artem Harutyunyan in his last three fights? The three are nowhere near “the best” in the 135 pound division. Fighting against them instead of the talented lightweight indicates that its purpose does not become the best way. He tries to try the back door to become the best. You can’t respect it.
The best current light weights
- Andy Cruz – by far the best and at a level other than fighters like Shakur. Cruz was also avoided the most.
- Floyd Schofield
- Abdullah Mason
- Herrera Cores
- Raymond Muratalla
- Gevonta Davis
- Lamont Roach
