Erik ten Hag has admitted that “there is pressure” in his job right now, but he feels the support of Man Utd owners INEOS.

The Dutch tactician signed a new deal at Old Trafford in the summer after leading United to an FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

This was Ten Hag’s second trophy in two years at Man Utd after leading the club to the 2022/23 EFL Cup.

However, last season’s Premier League performance was not good enough, finishing eighth in the table and only securing European football thanks to this FA Cup triumph.

The Red Devils haven’t made a good start to the season either, picking up just six points from four Premier League games, including a humiliating 3-0 drubbing at home to arch-rivals Liverpool.

Man Utd prepare to face Crystal Palace on Saturday evening. talking with Sky Sports ahead of this game, Ten Hag has addressed questions about his job security and support from Man Utd owners INEOS.

“I know when we’re losing, there’s pressure, there’s noise, so I don’t have to read these articles what’s coming because I know it’s there,” Ten Hag said.

“But yes, to answer your question, I feel the support. I think we’re together and we’re in a new season and yes, we’re going to go for silverware again and we’re going to build a good team again and yes, of course, we hope to do as in the first season. but if we have setbacks, we will face it and still have to win.”

Critics ‘always want Man Utd to fail’, says Ten Hag

There have been signs of improvement with Man Utd winning their last two games 3-0 and 7-0 against Southampton and Barnsley respectively.

However, Ten Hag will need a lot more than that to convince fans and his critics that he’s the right man for the job.

Indeed, the former Ajax manager believes he is also fighting a landscape where many actively want Man Utd gone.

“Oh, they always want to let Manchester United fail,” Ten Hag added. “And the only way to change that, and that’s we as a team have to turn it around and we know how to do it and we know we have to win. And when we don’t win, there’s criticism and we have to to cope

“But when we do things right, we’re confident that we can deal with all of this and that we can perform, and we’ve proven that often.”
