Per Manny Delgado: Jake Paul (12-1, 7 Kos), “The problem child”, won this past Saturday over former WBC middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (54-7-1, 34 KOs). Certainly his most important victory so far, although there is not much to write home about, as Chavez was champion almost 15 years ago. Not to mention, Chavez is considered a lot as the Boxing’s largest snack. He has never taken the sport seriously and lives under the shadow of his father – Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., a living legend.
It was the second time Paul had faced a ‘legitimate boxer’. His first was against Tommy Fury. However, Fury is not something special either. He has no outstanding features or natural talent for the sport. Either way, he handed Paul his first loss and first real boxes.
The result of this fight has attached further and more emphasized conversations in the sport. For example, Paul could never compete against real boxers or ever become a legitimate boxer. He is simply “a sideshow” or “circus act” as people so often want to claim. Criticism of a generally unlawful character like Paul aside, given his noisy conditions, was many observers of the sport in general to see that Jake Paul has improved a significant amount since his loss of Tommy Fury in 2023.
He seems to take the sport seriously and move like a decent boxer at the amateur level. He is only in his professional boxing career for only five years, but he has the technical profitability and fundamentals of boxers 1-2 years in a competitive amateur goat career. However, not everyone would agree, because many people would still call him “trash”. You can say that he has to be much better for someone with the amount of money and resources he owns.
Either way, with his best performance to date, there is a word that the WBA will officially arrange him. After his victory, Paul wasted no time to call out several fighters. He wants more difficult challenges and becomes a world champion. A pipe dream for a YouTuber boxer, who had a very late start in the sport, as he did so well in his 20s. It is a sport where the biggest superstars typically start as soon as they can walk or at least in their early teens. Although there are exceptions, it is often warriors with technically limited capabilities. In this respect, Paul is still a very limited boxer.
Many people would call Jake Paul Delusal, and it would be difficult to argue against, even Chavez JR mentioned in the interview after the fight that he did not believe that Paul was ready for any of the champions. Jake answered with “All I need is myself, if I listened to someone in life, I wouldn’t be where I am today, so self -belief, self -belief is all that is needed.”
He followed with a positive message for the children, who repeated the importance of self -belief:
“If you are a child at home, don’t listen to someone who tells you, you can’t do shit. I am proof of this s ***. I’m from Ohio. I didn’t have a self -made mother. ***. All the way to the top of the game and I still go. I’m 28 years old and I run this f ***** s ***. ‘
It can easily be criticized by those who condemn him, as the right message, wrong messenger. Criticism set aside, after all, it is a positive message, one that you can say will echo with many young and impressive thoughts. For all Jake Paul’s shortcomings in character and poor delivery methods, you can’t beat him too hard for his well -intentioned efforts to inspire the next generation.
There is also a lot of criticism to Paul about the legitimacy of his aircraft. Words such as “Rigged”, “Circus Act,” and “Scripted” are thrown into the mix of conversation, synonymous with any reference to his name. The way he chose his opponents carefully is not so different from how new prospects are accompanied by taxi cabins, construction workers and overall particles. It is to fill their records with victories for their first 10-20 aircraft or so to build their confidence. The difference is that Jake Paul does it on a greater stage and utilizes it by choosing recognizable names. He secures larger salaries by fighting the MMA fighters, retired legends and Hill-Beane, rather than getting a part-period known only by those in his home.
It is a smart move and not too different from a typical box tradition, but one that has collected a lot of criticism because of how generally he is found to be found by zealous fans of boxing. His approach is controversial because of sensationalism, and many claim to have made a ‘mockery’ of the sport.
During the post-finsing interview, Paul Zurdo Ramirez, Badou Jack, Anthony Joshua, Gervonta Davis and Tommy Fury exclaimed. Jake Paul seems to feel more familiar than ever. This can be attributed to his finish line with six fine, as Tommy Fury loss, which includes legend Mike Tyson and now former champion Julio Cesar Chavez JR. This new -found trust is a natural progress of what winning fights reach internally. Gimmicks is playing naturally. You can call it deception and an exaggerated self -information made possible by Paul’s spiritual gymnastics. Since he beat the legendary Mike Tyson, the most recognizable name in box (even if he is now a senior citizen), for Jake Paul, it can feel just as rewarding as if he could actually beat a primary Mike Tyson.
Notwithstanding Paul’s aggradised sense of self, if we want to take him seriously in his pursuit of greatness and believe that he intends to obtain the names he has called out, which many people simply regard as an expansion of his incidents. The question remains: Can he really become a world champion?
Most box fans will aggressively disagree. Although Paul showed steady improvements and gave a reverent performance, with a thorough understanding of basic boxing principles, it is still an amateur level of boxing. He has a long way to go before he can become a world champion, if at all. After all, he had a good beat in the 9th and 10th rounds as soon as Chavez JR was finally willing to let his hands go.
The most realistic pursuit of Paul would be to avenge his loss against sub-Par boxer Tommy Fury. Even if that happens, he seems to have been transferred to bite more than he can chew by challenging legal boxers at the world level. Antics or sincere ambition? Only the coming months will tell it.
