Promotor Oscar de la Hoya is questioning whether Devin Haney’s chin can be restored in the year he has been out of the ring since his loss of Ryan Garcia last April. De la Hoya feels that the three times Haney, 26, was dropped and that the many times he was injured in his fight with Ryan, his chin permanently harmed.

This is a bad thing for Haney (31-0, 15 COs), which deleted its loss by the New York State Athletic Commission due to Garcia’s positive test for the prohibited Ped Ostarine. However, Haney is fighting against strong puncher Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 COs) on Friday, May 2, at Times Square in New York. The commission cannot do anything about Haney’s chin cut away from the Garcia struggle.
Career in danger?
De la Hoya feels that Haney has Hart, and he says that’s why he kept getting up after he was dropped by Kingry in April last year. However, if Haney’s chin is away from that fight, Heart will not save him against Ramirez, because he will hit him hard all night. He will not take rest breaks as Ryan did because he has a better engine.
We can see the beginning of the end of Devin’s career on Friday night as he beat and stop by Ramirez. It will get worse for Haney against other fighters at Welterweight, because many of them hit harder than Ramirez and are much younger. Haney is too big to return to 140, and even if he did, he would be food for fighters like Gary Antuanne Russell, Alberto Puello and Richardson Hitchins.
“I think Devin has his hands full because he comes from a devastating knockout. So, is he going to come into the ring and think, ‘Oh my gosh, what happened to me in my last fight against Ryan? Wait a moment. I have to face Ramirez. What am I going to do? “It’s somewhat of a confusion in Devin’s head,” De la Hoya said during the Great arrivals Monday in New York City.
Haney is going to fight as he always does by beating, climbing and moving. We have seen his formula many times in fighting against George Kambosos Jr. And Regis Prograis. He is going to try to frustrate Ramirez and stay outside his shooting range.
“Is he going to hit me? Am I going to be knocked out? Is my chin still the same? If you are knocked out as a fighter, you’re just confident, ‘says De la Hoya. “He (Haney) showed heart. Heart is different. The chin, you can’t restore the chin. It takes away your confidence. ‘
He will be hit hard by Ramirez because his coach, Robert Garcia, told this man to target Haney’s chin to follow what Ryan did. Ramirez will try to take advantage of what Garcia did to Devin by focusing on head shots.
The brick wall analogy
“Let’s just put it that way. I can build a wall with bricks and put some nice cement, water and everything, ‘says De la Hoya. “But over time it will deteriorate. Over time, it will fall apart. Can Devin’s chin withstand the strong blows?
“Can she know those left brackets and right hands over time. Over time, it’s like chopping away from a rock. Finally you turn it into a pebble. Will we see Devin Haney with the confidence and chin? I don’t know,” De La Hoya said.
