Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla – what change makes one day.
Thursday at Player championshipJustin Thomas went out to a start with 2 under seven holes before the wheels fall completely. He made a five double at 17 in 17 and found the water again at 18 to make triple. Thomas found the water twice as much as he made the turn, scoring a 6-bi-par 78 while lost over nine shots at the ball hit (outside of Tee and Afrim).
2021 player champion arrived at Tpc saw On Friday you have to light at least one 6 underneath to make the cut. He had other plans.
Thomas Zogu his first two holes from the gate and made the turn at 5 under the day. Thomas took on the right side of the bird line at 11 and 12, and then he placed his footage in another sign of 62 course that was placed by Tom Hoge.
Thomas Birded 13, 14 and 16 and then fired an arrow on the famous Green Island in 17 years old. He calmly rolled in a 18-meter blow to reach 11 under the day, raising his triumph triumph as he again told his friends Rickie Fowler, Smylie Kauffman and Kevin Kisner, who were in the NBC’s “Happy Hour” just far away.
After a nuclear screen through 17 holes, Thomas needed a principle at 18 to keep the course record alone.
But golf is never straightforward, and Thomas’s chance in history was the victim of two weak shakes in the pete Dye closing hole.
Thomas immediately left Tee and found himself trying to play a low runner up to the green front. But Rough grabbed the club’s face and Thomas turned it out, sending the ball slipping across the street before diving into the pond.
Thomas fell on track and had 54 yards between him and the course record. He perfectly grabbed his wedge, sending the ball to history. It landed a little of the stake and bordered forward, but it was a straight hair, finishing 22 inches from the cup for a tap, tied to the course.
“It wasn’t,” Thomas said after the round when asked if the record was in his mind at 18. “I thought he was 62. I didn’t know. I just wanted to make another bird, and then I once missed the right path, Birdie is a kind of question and then I was trying to hit something less than green and so far. The ball is definitely going to the water.
“I am not in any way, shape or form letting him live in the big round I had today.”
Friday was a course of course to remember Thomas.
He went nuclear for 17 holes. He is now the first of all time with multiple rounds with 10 or more birds or better at TPC Sawgrass. Its 16th improvement from round 1 in round 2 is mostly in the history of the player championship for Justin Ray. 9.43 Thomas ‘strikes won on Friday is the second in players’ history after only 10.59 won by Ken in his infamous 2016 round.
“This was one of the best rounds I have played, for sure,” Thomas said. “Mentally was the biggest thing. I felt like I did an incredible job just to stay, keeping my eyes forward, keeping my blinders, not looking back, forward, something like that. It was right, how can I put this ball on a good path, and then how can I make it, and let it rinse and repeat it. I put the ball beautifully, too. Only one of those days. “
But his only mistake of the day landed in a tomb of water and used his chance in history with him.
