Pro Golf has been broken for nearly three years now, as the union between PGA Tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund crawls together. But while both sides have made mistakes, one of the best tactical movements that PGA Tour has once again shone this weekend at Cognant Classic in Palm Beaches, when the highest ranking amateur Luke Cranton did the cut to secure his PGA Tour card Through the accelerated program of PGA Tour University.
The state junior in Florida became the second player to win his card through the accelerated program, joining Gordon Sargent of Vanderbil, who will join the tournament after this season.
PGA Tour created the accelerated program in November 2022 as part of a series of changes to the PGA Tour University program designed to give young amateurs better a more direct tournament and help them not join Liv Golf (as no. Eugenio Chacarra did).
Among those changes was a decision to give the elderly number 1 in the last rankings of the PGA University Tour a tour card, which Ludwig Aberg became the first to benefit in the spring of 2023. By giving senior collegial players a more direct route, the tour was able to stop Livin to steal the next talent and hold it.
Aberg broke out on stage almost shortly after winning his PGA Tour card. He became a member of the 2023 Ryder Cup team and is now player no. 4 of the rank in the world after Gaining the Invitation of Genesis in Torrey Pines a few weeks ago. He is a thriving star at a golf rhythm that looks like it was created in a laboratory and an attractive personality that will make it one of the future faces of golf.

Clanton can be too. He won 14 of his 20 accelerated points of the Tour University at PGA Tour, which included five Top-15 conclusions at 11 Start PGA Tour and two racing conclusions. Clanton has not just made cuts in PGA Tour – he is pretending.
Like Aberg, Clanton has everything he needs for PGA Tour in his next generation of stars, and there is no reason to think he cannot hold it. Heck, a place in the 2025 Ryder Cup team is not under discussion.
It is a world where Chacarra leaving for Liv was the beginning of a high amateur exodus in the detached circuit, leaving PGA Tour in an even more serious situation. But while some other talented young players went to Liv, PGA Tour has remained the desired destination for young people who beat the world in the pipeline.
As a result, PGA Tour has seen Aberg bloom. Now Cranton and Sargent will have a chance, and this only proves that PGA Tour University and accelerated paths have been a massive success.
Following his late indictment to make the cut and win his PGA Tour card at WM Phoenix Open came out only short, Claranton He said he knew that “his time would come”. She arrived on Friday in a course he knew well. When his last blow fell, the emotions of a dream understood began to spill. Claranton immediately went to his family out of the 18th green to pray.
After he got his card, Clarton and his family went to Chipotle for dinner. Aberg did the same thing after he stuck it in 2023.
The next stars often follow a similar path to the top, and this leads to the tournament, which remains the place where (most of the) best in the world.
