Dafn Schippers speak of life, becoming a medalist habit of European shutters, the Netherlands, and why he wants to help the next generation
Dafn Schippers think of the future and opportunities that can be ahead. In September 2023, he went to a career as one of the world’s best sprints, now 32-year-old acknowledges that life outside the bubbles of athletics has become quite accustomed.
Next, which is followed by a mindset, and twice a world champion of 200m has ideas. He enjoyed the work of the media in which he was involved in the date of that day, while there is a desire to return to the traces, roll his wings and help the young athletes in the Netherlands. “I keep an open mind and I’m still looking for where I’m my next passion.” He says:
This does not mean that Schippers currently need to be at how it turns his hands. Actually is the opposite. He is the director of the tournament the director of the European Closed Athletics Championship, which will take place on March 6-9, in Apeloud, the Netherlands and will present the first main staging of the next year.
It plays a role, he is very serious.
“I really hope we can create a wonderful tournament where the organization helps the athletes make their best,” says three-year Olympics. “It is important that everything is well organized, so the athletes can fully focus on their performances.
“We have three main organizations that are really involved in the organization of the tournament and what I really enjoy, I can share my point of view as a athlete. I hope I can help with good tune things and add those final details, although it can sometimes be difficult, because it takes many different interests and prospects to consider.
He adds. “I hope that this event allows many new talents to show what they can do on the big stage. Such a tournament is not only about today’s stars, but also about giving the next generation, the opportunity to give shine and get experience. “
That the next generation is given to consider multiple consideration in the Schippers interview TimeA number of he was part of the first group of athletes, which is based on the Olympic Training Center in Paul and has seen the investments developed and the change of approaching through that collection.
“After that, there was no full-time plan,” says the shipaptors. “I grew up in his development, training several times a week to a full-time program with the best institutions you can make in your best. It took a few years to build a really professional organization, and now we really see the advantages of this investment.
“When you have a professional organization, it allows you to make a country. I really believe that we win more medals, the more we are airtime to achieve television, and the more attention will get the sport. This means that more children will see it and can try to try sports. As athletics becomes more popular, there is a greater opportunity for more talented young people to pursue it. “

Schippers CV is as impressive as it’s long. Outside, he won these two titles (in 2015 and 2017), plus an Olympic silver medal (in 2016.
He was a trailer, for example, the collection of Dutch, and now the Dutch recruitment is medalist performances at a retrospective pace. The Netherlands were in the fourth place at a table of athletics medals at the last Summer Olympics, matched the world’s closed championships, which followed the final publication of the world’s second world.
“We have made incredible progress in our performances since 2015,” says the shipping. “As a small country, we are more and more competing to the world’s high level.
“We have a large group of athletes who really do well. However, I think it is important that we do not focus on these athletes in the Netherlands, but also pay a lot of attention to the talented development. Talents are the future, and we must continue to succeed.
“I was thinking about how much reward could be to pass the young talents my expertise. There are no many initiatives in the Netherlands, which are aimed at raising the level of Sprinting, which believes that it can make a real difference. Who knows, may I find myself in a position where I can study whether coaching or mentoring is the right path for me.
“Working with heptatlets would also be surprising. I’m a little perfection, but if I took a similar role, I wanted to do it. That’s why I love learning from other great coaches. I am also very interested in the mental side of the sport. It would be interesting to study and see if it was one thing I could help others. “
Undoubtedly, there will be talents to walk in Apeldoorn, but very attention will fall on the biggest athletics of the Netherlands right now. The 24-year-old world and the European closed champion have expressed a habit of making fireworks recently, violating the “short path” of 400 m for the past two years. He is also the Linchin of the Relay Teams, which have done so many to promote the Dutch medal in the big championship.

However, the items were not so planned in the plan, its preferred event – 400 meters on the last summer at the Paris Olympics. Bol was expected to approach Sydney’s McLuke-Levron, but paid for early testing of its restrictions and, after all, a distant third, as the American successfully defended his Olympic gold.
Schippers saw courage than failure from his compatriot.
“I’m quite experienced when it comes to high pressure, but I’m sure Femke puts it higher for himself than anyone else can,” he said. “It simply came to our notice then that our sport is not something you can fully control. Everything goes down to the smallest details. Just skipping the right balance while hitting the lactate or wall. It’s part of sports.
“He went on a goal with Paris and gave it what he had, who scored him the bronze medal. He soon pushed a little, so the fatigue is earlier than expected. I thought he was approaching, it was incredibly bold. I do not think that this had anything to do with pressure, but his determination to go gold against the “very strong opponent like Sydney”. “

The mind of the closed contest causes mixed memories for Schippers. He admits that 60m was not his natural force, but the congenital opponent still loved the opportunity to make a disk if possible. It was in Glasgow in 2009, where he won his second career medal, 60 m silver, but it was in those championships. Unfortunately, that pain would come back to many times since next. “
It was the damage that eventually brought the Schippers career in the end.
“Pain and failed to train 100% were decisive factors,” he said. “I have always been the type of athlete who or competes at the best level or moves to something new.
“The first 10 months after retirement were oppressive, but interesting. So many new and great opportunities came on my way, and I threw them with all their hearts. Everything to make the Dutch television and global athletics to speak in events and even become the director of the tournament.
“I found all this new experience incredibly exciting, but they also demanded a lot, especially as a former athlete. When you are used to such a structural and disciplinary life, for simple purposes, adapting to a new reality where you need to create your own structure and put your own goals, a true learning curvature. But it definitely has its advantages. Performing your peak requires a large amount of both body and mind. Even now it is still a journey, a process that will take some time. “
Schippers miss the cutting and shot of competition. “Adrenaline and urgency of happiness that come with it are incredible. It makes you feel that you can take the whole world, “he said.
But as an observer, he was fascinated by the current dynamics at the Sprinting of Women. Julie Alfred confiscated its chance in Paris, world champion Shakhikharson, while Gabbi Thomas’ impressive Olympic Olympic exhibitions for more than 200 m and 4×100 m relays.

“Many of the athletes who opposed over the years are still competing, but a clear difference is a better difference between the effects of the athletes, which helped the athletes run faster,” says crypts. “For example, running for seven seconds in 60m used to have been unique and very special during my career. In recent years, it has been done several times, and more records have been reported in various events.

“I’m really curious to see what will happen this year. We have several new names like Julien and Shachri, but surprisingly, we have not seen the best in the Olympic Games. I’m interested in whether they will return to stronger and more competition. “
When it comes to the favorite sport of Schippers, both in its wide life, the next one is worth watching.
