Kejelca, Barega and Matejko will fly the fastest in the Valencia Half Marathon on October 27, 2024.

Valencia, September 3, 2024. The Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Half Marathon has confirmed the names of the international elite athletes who will fly through the streets of Ciudad del Vazquez on 27 October. Organized by SD Correcaminos and Valencia City Council, the race still holds the women’s world record (Gidey, 1:02:52 in 2021). The second-fastest time in the world (Candy, 57:32, 2020) and will look to continue to improve on these records this year in the half marathon, in which eight of the top ten fastest times over the distance have been achieved.
In the men’s category, Ethiopians Yomif Kejelcha (57:41) and Selemon Barega (57:50) will compete with Kenya’s Daniel Mateiko (58:26) to be the fastest over the distance. The level of European runners is also high, with the likes of Samuel Barata (Portugal), Pietro Riva (Italy), Amanal Petros (Germany) and Emil Keires (UK) in Valencia, joined by the Spaniards. the elite will be established soon.
And in the women’s category, the Valencia Half Marathon (which has the two fastest times in history) will focus on Kenyan runner Agnes Jebet Ngetich, who will make her debut at the distance in Valencia. In this city last January, he broke the 10K Valencia Ibercaja world record set by Kiprun (28:46, with his 14:13 also setting the 5K world record). His main rivals for the victory will be Ethiopian representative Tsigi Gebreselama and Kenyan Lilian Kasait Rengeruk and Catherine Amanangole.
Mark Roig, coach of the event’s international elite athletes, rated the list this way “The best half-marathon of the year, with high-level fights, the goal of which is once again a 57-minute performance by several athletes.
