If you were an artist and golf was your painting, what would you paint? Would you keep things plain and white or add your own color?
Golf, and therefore golf shoes, have forced golfers into a shoebox of expressionless monotony. There are enough boring shoes out there for all of us.
What if your shoes could be an extension of your personality and love for the game rather than just a tool to help you get around the golf course?
For decades, golf has been boring. No expression. abundance. Eastside Golf hopes to change that (and invite more golfers) with their latest collaboration with NIKE.
Titled “Everybody’s Game,” the two-shoe collection plays on the theme of the blank canvas. The all-white shoe comes with six different NIKE swooshes, so you can make the shoe your own.
If you were an artist and these shoes were your painting, how would you make them?
jQuery(document).ready(function($) { var slides = $( ‘#mgs_gallery_66d87bf1aa58d .mgs-gallery-images .mgs-gallery-image’ ).length; if ( slides 6 ) { slides $ } ( 6 ; ‘ #mgs_gallery_66d87bf1aa58d .mgs-gallery-images’ ).slick( { slidesToShow: 1, slidesToScroll: 1, fade: true, prevArrow: ‘‘, next arrow:’ ‘, asNavFor: ‘#mgs_gallery_66d87bf1aa58d .mgs-gallery-thumbs’, swipe: false, mobileFirst: true, } ); $( ‘#mgs_gallery_66d87bf1aa58d .mgs-gallery-thumbs’ ).slick( { slidesToShow: ( slides – 1 ), //less than the number of slides, so it always shows infinite scrolling slides (bugfix) slide1, arrow : asNavFor : ‘#mgs_gallery_66d87bf1aa58d .mgs-gallery-images’ , centerMode : true , focusOnSelect : true , infinite : true , mobileFirst : true , responsive : ( { breakpoint : 1023 , settings : { slidesToShow } : : 600, settings: { slidesToShow: 1, }, }, ), } ); $( ‘#mgs_gallery_66d87bf1aa58d’ ).magnificPopup( { delegate: ‘.mgs-gallery-trigger’, type: ‘image’, gallery: { enabled: true, arrowMarkup: ‘‘, }, } ); } );
“I think there have been campaigns before in the golf industry that have used those terms, whether it was ‘get golf ready’ or ‘make golf your thing,’ and it’s really that our perspective was like, ‘you own it. this! ” said Earl Cooper, Co-Founder of Eastside Golf.
“Who are we to define what a golfer is and who are we to say, ‘Oh, you have to have a handicap to be a golfer’?” You might be someone who just enjoys, you know, mini golf, or Topgolf, or watching YouTube videos, or whatever. It’s like, I really wanted to feel like you own a piece of this game, and that influenced the way the shoes were designed.”
Eastside isn’t just selling shoes. They’re selling the idea that no matter who you are, what you look like, or what skill you have, you can own a piece of this game.
“I think this is really giving people an opportunity to tell their story, whatever it is. So I’m more excited to hear how people wear it, seeing how people style it,” Cooper continued.
“Some people can wear one of the swooshes and not the other. Or wear, you know, two swooshes, but different colors, right? As if he could go crazy. There are many different ways, styles and viewpoints that are interchangeable.”
The fabric that golfers can put their personality into is the NIKE Air Max 1 G and the NIKE Zoom Victory Tour 3. Historically, Eastside’s collaborations have been developed on Jordan Brand shoes, not NIKE silhouettes.
This step in Eastside’s thriving partnership with the Swoosh further signifies the growth of the brand and the strength of the mission.
“We look at ourselves as leaders in this space, but we also recognize the responsibility that we have to not just be a cliché, but really have real impact, real change, but also, you know, really be a legitimate brand with excellent parts. and great products,” Cooper said.
“I think more than anything, if somebody looks at that shoe and says, ‘You know what, I feel like this game is for me and that I own a piece of this game,’ that’s success.”
