Premier League Predictions: Top 10 Goalkeepers of the 2024/25 Season

The 2024/25 Premier League is underway, and with it comes the return of 90 minutes Top 90 series, in which we rank who we think will be the best performers of the season.

First up, our predictions for the top ten Premier League goalkeepers in the 2024/25 campaign.

From the number ones fighting for Premier League survival to those looking to win titles, there is plenty of talent between the sticks to choose from.

Here are our picks for the top ten, of course.

Alfonso Areola

The French goalkeeper finally became West Ham’s number one last season, and it’s fair to say he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Areola was sublime for the Hammers in 2023/24, making the third-highest save in the Premier League and regularly rescuing his under-fire manager David Moyes.

Now under the tutelage of new boss Julen Lopetegui, we expect Areola to continue his fine form at the London Stadium during the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Oliver Glasner had a pretty tough decision this summer about who to trust Crystal Palace number one jersey: Sam Johnstone or Dean Henderson.

Although Johnstone impressed last season, Glasner opted for Henderson and so far it looks like a very good decision.

The new number one’s recent form has seen him recalled to the senior England squad after a number of years on the sidelines. A beautiful

Having starred for the Netherlands at Euro 2024 as the competition’s youngest starting goalkeeper, Bart Verbruggen is expected to take his game to another level in 2024/25.

So far, it looks like those expectations will be met. The 22-year-old’s shot-stopping ability and ability on the ball have been key to Brighton’s solid start to the new campaign.

Ederson

Ederson was widely expected to leave Manchester City during the summer transfer period.

In the end, the Brazilian has stayed in the north of England and looks to have reclaimed his number one spot ahead of Stefan Ortega in the opening weeks of the campaign.

So why is the three-time Premier League Golden Glove winner so low on this list you ask?

Well, the truth is that his form hasn’t been particularly good over the past 12 months, with a few routine stops made to look a little too difficult.

The Brazilian goalkeeper’s future at City will largely depend on his performances between the sticks in 2024/25.

Guglielmo Vicario was a huge success in North London during his inaugural season at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Italian made highlight reel save after highlight reel save after highlight reel save in 2023/24 and we expect the same in the current campaign.

Jordan Pickford

Simply put, Everton are not a Premier League club right now without Jordan Pickford.

In many ways, the England number one kept the Toffees in the division last season with a series of inspired outings in April and May.

If Everton are to have any hope of staying afloat in 2024/25, they will need their goalkeeper to put in equally fantastic performances.

He might be sticking around a lot, but there’s no denying that Andre Onana has found some of his best form again in 2024.

The fact that he made more saves than any other Premier League goalkeeper last season proves that.

wait for the Manchester United number one to continue to improve as he regains confidence between the sticks in the coming months.

Emiliano Martinez

Arguably Aston Villa’s best piece of business during the summer transfer window was tying down their star goalkeeper Emi Martinez to a new long-term contract.

The World Cup winner has been a key reason why Aston Villa have become a UEFA Champions League club, and will continue to be as long as Martinez is at the height of his powers between the sticks .

David Raya

After sacking Aaron Ramsdale last season and earning a permanent trade to arsenalDavid Raya looks set for a big 2024/25 season at the Emirates Stadium.

Early season performances have indicated that anyway, with the number one proving his worth both in and out of possession in the opening weeks.

Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker is the best goalkeeper in the world, not just the Premier League.

The truth is, nobody is even close to being on Alisson’s level right now.

The fact that he hasn’t conceded a single goal so far in 2024/25 is proof of that.

He is a different sauce.
