Kalvin Phillips told the Leeds man away from Elland Road

Former Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is said to have played a key role in Crysencio Summerville’s decision to leave the Whites in the summer.

The Dutch winger joined West Ham United in a deal worth £25m. The talented attacker was one of 10 first-team signings the Hammers made during a busy summer window.

And according to The Athletic, the new Hammers number seven was convinced to make the move after speaking to Phillips.

Crysencio Summerville joined West Ham on the advice of Kalvin Phillips.

The Manchester City midfielder, now on loan with Ipswich Town, spent the second half of last season with West Ham and, despite enduring a tough spell, spoke highly of the club and the squad behind the scenes

“Former Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who struggled during his six months at West Ham, also encouraged Summerville to join when asked for his opinion.” said the Athletic.

“Phillips praised the backroom staff, the player support team and how friendly the team is. He stressed that Summerville would have no problem solving.

During his 12 years at Leeds United, Phillips, who was promoted to the Whites first team in 2015, made 234 appearances in all competitions where he was involved with 14 goals and 13 assists.
