Barcelona has taken another step towards better financial health after the league confirmed an increase in the club’s pay lid for the second half of the season.
The Barcelona squad looks like a financial headache in recent times, with only a good handful of tent players and most bought at the cheap or home.
Last January, the club’s pay limit was reduced to 204 million euros, dropping down from 270 million euros at the start of last season, at a time when Real Madrid was able to spend 755 million euros.
With President Joan Laporta, desperately finding new and inventive ways to raise cash, it increased substantially to 426 million euros ahead of this season. However, the club was still obliged to find a lagoon to record the summer signature in Dani Olmo and almost got rid of when it came to international Spain after losing the deadline to secure it in the second half of the campaign.
The salary lid has grown after the end of the January transfer window to 463 million euros, inflating for less than 40 million euros, although it still remains in insignification compared to 754 million euros from Madrid.
