Golf clubs come and golf clubs go. While amateurs can depend on a driver or a set of handcuffs for years before replacing them, the good often exchange most of their bags for the latest models each season. Rory Mcilroy is not different.
Big champion four times It’s been a staff player Taylormade since Nike closed its Golf Club business in 2016. His bag is full with many of the most recent and largest offers by taylormade, From the driver all the way to his ball and the golf ball.
But from many golf clubs that Mcilroy has used during his long career, from Taylormade and otherwise, who was his absolute favorite?
‘Get on it’: Rory Mcilroy says PGA-Liv unification only works in 1 way
Seduce
You can never get that response from many pro the tour currently in the game. But Rory is different. And when the question was asked after his second round at 2025 Invitational GenesisHe gave up the goods in his honest and funny trademark.
“The favorite club of all time? Wow, ”Mcilroy said, repeating the question on Friday evening at Torrey Pines.
The 27-time winner of the tour then took a beat to think through the question, and in his eyes you can almost see it by choosing mentally through the old golf clubs in his home garage.
Then he gave his answer.
“Maybe the driver M2,” Rory said, referring to Taylormade’s M2 driver.
The club was one of two company flag leaders, along with M1, that went on sale at the beginning of 2017. M2 ended up in pro tour bags like Mcilroy at the end of 2016, but the time is interesting. With Nike who had stopped making clubs the same year, M2 was probably one of the first non-nicer drivers that Mcilroy played over the years.
But why is m2 ranked above the rest?
“I just like it, I still look at it in my garage ever, how, I wish I could ever use you,” mcilroy jokes on Friday. “But maybe it’s illegal at this point.”
Mcilroy currently games Tayormade’s Qi10 driver. He also plays Qi10 Woods, along with Taylormade Rors proto irons, Mg4 Wedges, a spider Tour Putter and a Taylormade TP5 golf ball.
