Tiger Woods announced on Monday that he is not “ready” to compete this week and is withdrawing from the invitational genesis.

Tiger Woods announced Monday that he is not “ready” to compete this week and is withdrawing from Genesis Invitational, an event where he doubles as a host of the tournament.
Last week’s Tuesday, Woods announced death of his mother, Cultida. Three days later it was announced that Woods would play at the Invitational Generation.
Now, he’s out.
“I plan to do it this week, but I’m just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my mother would have loved, but I’m still processing her loss,” he wrote Woods on Monday.
Woods’s mother, Tida, had a mass influence Not only Tiger’s education but his golf career.
“My mother was a force of nature everything her, her soul was just undeniable,” Woods wrote on Tuesday. “She was fast with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, the biggest supporter, without any of my personal achievements would not be possible. She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers and intimacy at this difficult time for me and my family. I love you Mom. “
Genesis had to be Woods’s first official start since the 2024 open championship. He had another operation back in September and did not play on hero World Challenge (another event he is waiting) in December. He competed with his son, Charlie, in the PNC championship in late December (they lost in a play off), but this is 36 holes and in a wheelchair. He also competed in two meeting Events since then.
Woods withdrew from Genesis during the second round last year with flu -like symptoms.
This week’s tournament, a signature event, moved to Torrey Pines in San Diego instead of its normal home in Riviera in Palisades, Calif., Due to destructive fires in the area.
