Former four divisions world champion Juan Manuel Marquez says Canelo Alvarez’s next opponent, William Scull, is a ‘nobody in the boxing sports’.
Scull: A “Nobody”?
Marquez believes that Canelo should fight ‘good opponents’, and he does not support his decision to face the IBF super-middleweight champion Scull (23-0, 9 COs) on May 3.
This is the first game of Canelo of his four-match agreement with Turki al-Sheikh, and it is designed to set up the Terence Crawford collision on September 13. The purpose of Canelo fighting against the obscure 32-year-old Scull is to allow him to become the undisputed champion on 168.
Then Canelo will have the four titles on the line when he looks at Crawford. In other words, it creates false, Artificial interest in the Canelo-Crawford match. It’s all superficial. Adding another title to the match will no longer produce drama, as fans see the fight as a money grab and pension match for the outdated 37-year-old Crawford.
The way to get fans excited about the fight would be for Turki to post Terence’s feet to the fireand instructed him that he must Prove itself only on 168 in May or June against one of these fighters or else:
David benavidez
Osleys Iglesias
David Morrell
Dmitri BIVOL
Artur Betterbiev
Turki’s tough love needed
Turki pays Crawford a lot of money to fight against Canelo, but he doesn’t get the most out of it because the Nebraska native is at 168 unproven, and he decided he would just wait until the match in September. It looks bad and shows that Crawford is just looking for a payday. Turki should give Crawford some difficult love and say that he has to run the above mini-gauntlet to get the Canelo Golden Prize Payday. If he refuses, Turki must be his hands of Terence and say, “Good prospect.”
The hard box fans who know about Crawford will see it as a sad, pathetic, cowardly way to get a big retirement. Fans who just follow the sport do not know how Crawford is, and they do not want to see that Canelo is fighting against him because he is not someone they are interested in. He is not Mexican, never fought at 168, he is not well known, and he is old. Crawford has three strikes against him to be used for Canelo as an opponent.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but William Scull is (a) nobody in the boxing sports,” Juan Manuel Marquez said Esnews When asked about the view of Canelo Alvarez, William Scull fights on May 3. ‘
“Yes, he is an IBF champion. Do you know William Scull? I don’t know William Scull.
“It will be a good fight, but the difference is two sections (separate) in the weight class, and I think it’s a dangerous battle for Terence Crawford,” Marquez said of what he thinks about Canelo defending at 154 pounds Terence Crawford on September 13. “Maybe, yes. Maybe Canelo wins by knocking out.
“I don’t like to see those kinds of battles. I don’t like it, ‘Marquez says about his thoughts on Canelo’s deleted plans to fight on May 3. “I think Jake Paul just wants to fight for Canelo for money, and I don’t like it.”
