Extreme English English Challenge

We look back at one of the national English National Khachkars Championships, as the runners fighting against the cruel weather in 1972 were fighting against cruel weather

As the crust is built for the 2025-year-old English Cross Country, which was established on February 22 in the Hill of Parliament, it is worth reflecting one of the most memorable and difficult publications of the event 53 years ago, in 1972.

That year’s race, which is last hosted in Satton Park (March 4), is still in the memories of all the weather, which have passed dramatic turns throughout the day.

What started, as tolerant winter weather quickly turned into a storm like Arctic. In the afternoon, the rain turned to snow, then snow, and the temperature was falling, turning the course in the unforgettable battlefield.

The extreme weather is often a part of the cross experience, the conditions of 1972 were at a completely different level. Runners struggled with a strong head and ice ground, after finishing the race, needed medical care and a trip.

Officials had to endure the hard conditions. Traggins, an official from Liverpool Tom Owen died of a heart attack while traveling home after the event.

At that time, the women’s race was held separately, earlier in the week at high wycombe. But it was a really cruel test for men.

Since the conditions during the senior race were to complete three circles of a cruel nine mile course, and as a storm intended, the tent of officials found refuge.

For those who were able to cross the finish line, that test did not end. They turned to the extra mile and half-half to walk to changing rooms.

Welse Malcolm Thomas, competing for Thames Valley Harries, competes in a race to complete its second place last year. Last year, Davt Bedford was unable to compete due to an injury to Achilla and instead spent.

Most of the mileage during the race even, even Thomas scattered a mile until the finish line.

Gate Bill Robinson ended in second place with 36 seconds, 36 seconds. Robinson used to be classified only 23ly and it was clear that the difficult weather conditions were suitable for him. Alan Rushmer, the three-year-old medalist rounded the first trio.

The National Cross Championship has a long time for a long time, and the only time the event was canceled until 2021 during world wars.

However, the balloon epidemic has seen the event of 2021, called 2024. It was reappointed on September 2024, Niam took the senior titles by brown and Hugo Miller.

Looking at the year 2025, the championships will return to the parliament’s hill. Let’s hope that the weather is much more forgiving than in 1972 during an unforgettable publication.
