Munguia works with coach Eddy Reynoso

Jaime Munguia will join coach Eddy Reynoso to take over as his new coach after his troubled loss of the fifth round to the little well -known Bruno Surace in December last year.

Talent deficit

It is a useless, futile move from Munguia, because Eddy Reynoso is not a wizard who will give him talent in a magical way that does not exist. It’s like rearranging deck chairs on a sinking ship. Reynoso can’t save him.

Munguia (44-2, 35 food) continues from Erik Morales, the captain of his sinking ship, in his knockout defeat on December 14 in Tijuana, Mexico. Morales did the best with Munguia, but he could not block the cobra-like bumps of Surrace.

It was only a matter of time before being knocked out in that battle, and it was not a shock when it happened. If Munguia owned Erik Morales’ talent, he would not have to go to his third coach.

Reynoso told @Boxazteca7 that he would work with the Super -Middelweight contender Munguia. This will enable Jaime to rub shoulders with Canelo Alvarez, who gave him a very criticized title shot last year after his victories against these three fighters:

– John Ryder: *Get a loss of Canelo
– Sergiy Derevyanchenko: 39
– Gonzalo Gaston Coria

Most would agree Canelo should never have given Munguia A title based on his three wins on super-middle weight after moving up to 168 in 2023. Munguia looked horrible against Derevyanchenko, and barely beat him by a close unanimous decision of 12 round on June 10, 2023.

Munguia has lost two out of his last three fights since he moved up to 168, and he seems to not belong in this weight class. It is not that he was washed. It is more a case of Munguia that does not have the talent to be one of the most important players at 168. He was never so good from a fighter from the beginning.

Hardcore box fans are well aware that Jaime was always a limited fighter from off in 2019 when he got a controversial victory over Dennis Hogan and thrown by the fans from the arena. He was careful about the murderers at 154, 160 and 168 to hit the mother load with the big payday against Canelo last year on May 4.

He has more chance to catch a belt at the middleweight, but only because the section is currently barren from talent. Almost everyone with part of the ability has a chance to win a belt at 160, which is ideal for Munguia.

Futile hope

Reynoso was the longtime coach of Canelo Alvarez, but he is not a miracle worker. Although Eddy has succeeded with Alvarez, he will not be able to do much with Munguia unless he is protected from the Sharks on 168. If he is 100% protected, he may be able to pick up a belt if Canelo retires, but only if he is carefully matched.

Munguia is expected to be re -broadcast on April 12 in Tijuana. It’s a fight he can lose again, and it won’t matter if Reynoso is the one in his corner that night. Surace has a cobbly right hand that he throws that munguia is too slow to block
