Canelo Eyes Mbilli or Scull

The Unified Super Middleweight Champion Canelo Alvarez will take a fight against Christian Mbilli or IBF champion William Scull in May to help stay ready for September.

Canelo’s longtime coach/manager, Eddy Reynoso, told @Boxazteca7 that Scull (23-0, 9 costs) and Mbilli (28-0, 23 COs) are the two candidates to be selected for May.

Why Mbilli? / Why scull?

Mbilli would be Alvarez’s much more difficult opponent because of his power, high work rate and uninterrupted aggression. He would be like a smaller, more compact version of David Banavidez, and he would attack Canelo uninterrupted.

It would be an absolute nightmare for Alarez to fight Mbilli, but it would be a fun, competitive battle to watch while it lasts. You couldn’t exclude a victory for Mbilli, and at this point in Canelo’s career it would not be a great dismay. His endurance is so bad now, and he looks too much for his little frame of 5’8 ″.

None of these two fighters will attract a lot of fan interest of Canelo’s followers worldwide, but there is not much more to choose from 168. Canelo, 34, has beaten all the interesting contenders now that David Morrell and David Banavidez are no longer in weight class.

The Cuba-born decrease from a dubious unanimous 12-round decision over Vladimir Shishkin on October 19 in Stadthalle, Falkensee, Germany. Scull did not show much power or talent in that struggle and was happy to win. Many boxing fans felt that Shishkin should have won.

Scull’s lack of punching power will be problematic if he lands the Canelo fight because he is too weak to compete. However, he has good skills and may steal later rounds against Alvarez, as Edgar Berlanga did in the Mexican superstar’s last battle on September 14.

In the first half, the fight was one -sided, with Canelo completely dominating the inexperienced Berlanga. But in the second half, Alvarez faded badly, through which Berlanga could go on and succeed.

Canelo should be preparing for a title defense against Boxer/Puncher Terence Crawford in September. Staying sharp is essential for Canelo, because Crawford is a high -level fighter with speed, anti -ability and mobility.

Crawford’s wait

Interestingly, Crawford (41-0, 31 CO’s) will choose to sit and wait until September and will run the risk of leaving the Ring in the Canelo battle after a year. However, Crawford has been fighting once a year since 2020, and it did not affect him. He does not fight the leading opposition, and of course it helped.

Crawford has been fighting a good fighter since 2020, Israil Madrimov and had a difficult time beating him last August. The 37-year-old man did not look good against Madrimov, which is not surprising due to his one-year discharge and a weak resume over the past six years.

Some people believe that Terence’s decision to sit without fighting against an institution before September indicates that he pays out against Canelo and the fight as a ‘Golden Parachute‘Retirement -money as CEOs are given regularly as they leave companies.

It is bad for fans who will pay their hard-earned money to look at the Canelo-Crawford-Wana adjustment Feeling stupid Then he thought they had a smoke.

To avoid this, Turki al-Sheikh should insist on that That Crawford proves himself against a top-flight-mid-weight competitor before giving him his golden handshake pension fight against Alvarez.

It would be a real solid if Turki told Crawford that he should beat one of these fighters to earn his payday against Canelo:

David Morrell
Christian Milli
David benavidez
Janibek Alikhakhanuly
Bakhram Murtazaliev
Caleb plant
