Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly eyeing a transfer raid on his former club Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese tactician recently left Sporting to take charge of Man Utd, and it is perhaps no surprise that he is looking to his former club to help him identify the players he needs to rebuild this struggling squad in Old Trafford.
Looks like the player in the crosshairs of the red devils is the Ivorian defender Ousmane Diomandewhich could probably cost around 60 million euros, according to a report from files.
Diomande looks like he could be ideal to help United rebuild their defence, with the 21-year-old firmly establishing himself as one of the best young defenders around.
Amorim clearly knew how to get the best out of Diomande, so he could be a better choice for MUFC than unconvincing performers like Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.
Manchester United are also looking for signings elsewhere in the defense
It appears that centre-back isn’t the only position United are looking to strengthen, with left-back also being worked on at the moment.
Lecce’s left back Patrick Dorgu appears to be United’s main targetas reported by Fabrizio Romano via the daily briefing yesterday
If United manage to bring in two young talents like Diomande and Dorgu, it could help Amorim improve the club’s fortunes in the coming years.
Leny Yoro is already in Manchester and is another of the best young players in Europe in his position, so the future would look very bright.
For now, though, it’s proving another nightmare season for United, who were deservedly beaten 3-1 at home to Brighton on Sunday.
The visitors found it too easy to break through United’s defence, so it might be worth splashing out the necessary cash to bring in someone like Diomande as soon as possible.
