The teenager starts 2025 with a bang after clocking 3:49.47 over 1500m at the BMC Sheffield Grand Prix.
Evan Grime has picked up where he left off in 2024 after setting a British under-17 indoor 1500m record.
The British teenage middle distance runner clocked 3:49.47 after finishing sixth in the 1500m at the BMC Sheffield Grand Prix (Jan 19).
Recorded at the English Institute of Sport Centre, the time was three seconds faster than the previous age-group best of 3:52.53 set by Oscar Schofield at the same event in 2023.
The 16-year-old clocked a personal best of 3:47.72 in the 1500m at Loughborough last summer, making him the fastest under-17 male in 2024 and ninth on the UK all-time list.
His record-breaking exploits aren’t limited to the 1500m, however: Grime rocked the 3000m in a British under-17 record of 8:23.76 in Cardiff.
Last summer he added another remarkable achievement to his growing list of records, running a world under-15s best of 4:05.48 for the mile, cementing his reputation as one of Britain’s rising stars.
The Salford Harrier ran the fastest British under-17 800m of 2024, clocking 1:49.69 at the BMC meeting in Manchester in May.
Grime’s successful 2024 also saw him represent Great Britain on the international stage, competing at the European Under-18 Championships in Banska Bystrica, where he finished seventh in the 1500m final.
Back on home soil, he won the 800m in a prestigious evening of 10,000m PBs.
Graeme, who is coached by his father and former international runner Ian, is also a regular on the cross-country circuit, finishing second to Jack Marwood in the under-17 category at the Liverpool Cross Challenge and fourth at the Cardiff Cross Challenge.
