The immediate future of one of Liverpool’s players is now settled.
A number of players face uncertain futures at the club this year and Liverpool could lose some of their best players this year.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will become free agents at the end of the season if they do not sign a new contract at Anfield.
Another player constantly linked with a move away from the club is striker Darwin Núñez.
Some reports linked the attacker with a January move to the Saudi Pro League but journalist James Pearce of The Athletic has reported that the Uruguayan attacker will stay at the club until the end of the season.
The striker has been heavily criticized this season for his poor performances and lack of goals, but he was the game-changer for the Reds against Brentford when he scored two late goals to earn three crucial points for the Merseyside club to retain their title advantage. career
Pearce wrote:
“Liverpool have not received an offer for Núñez this month amid speculation of possible interest from the Saudi Pro League, but doubts remain over Núñez’s long-term future. There is a big decision to be made in the summer, but it never went anywhere this month. Between now and May, Slot and his staff desperately need to get a tune out of it more regularly.”
Darwin Núñez could be key in Liverpool’s title race
The attacker had only scored two Premier League goals all season before the game against Brentford, but he made an impact for the Reds just when they needed it most.
The three points he earned for his side could be decisive at the end of the season and although his long-term future at the club is uncertain, fans will appreciate his contribution if they end up winning the Premier League title.
Núñez may not have a long-term future at the club and the Reds should definitely be looking for a more prolific striker, someone who can contribute more on a regular basis.
The reds have their eyes on it Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram replace Núñez.
Another name that they are monitoring is Brighton striker Joao Pedro who is having a good season for the Premier League.
