Former GM reacts to Dodgers signing Tanner Scott

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their eighth World Series title in franchise history after finishing the season with a 98-64 record and winning the National League West for the third year in a row.

After winning the title, the Dodgers wasted no time adding more talent this offseason as they made numerous moves to improve their 2025 team.

Some notable acquisitions include Blake Snell, Rocky Sasaki, and Tanner Scott.

Former GM Jim Bowden offered his thoughts on the Dodgers’ signing of Scott.

“This is a huge deal for the Dodgers,” Bowden said via Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio.

Bowden notes that Scott is arguably one of the best lefties in Major League Baseball, which is a valid argument when looking at his numbers.

In 2024 with the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins, Scott appeared in 72 games and posted a record of 9-6 with a 1.75 ERA, 22 saves and 84 strikeouts in 72.0 innings.

The Dodgers added a Cy Young Award-winning starting pitcher in Snell, a likely future Cy Young starting pitcher in Sasaki, and now one of the most dominant relief pitchers in the game.

Although the Dodgers have eight World Series titles, they have never won back-to-back titles in franchise history, but they will look to change that in 2025.

With the moves the Dodgers have made so far, it looks like they will be the favorite to win the World Series next season, and it will likely all depend on staying healthy.

The Dodgers will also be looking for their fourth straight NL West title and 12th in the last 13 seasons.
