Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan joined Sajid Khan’s trademark celebration as Pakistan crushed the West Indies in the 1st Test.


Pakistan off-spinner Sajid Khan is commanding the headlines not only for his excellent bowling performance but also for making his teammates dance to his tunes after the first innings ended at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan on Sunday, January 19.

Sajid Khan was the main man behind Pakistan National Cricket Team’s 127-run win over West Indies in the first Test in Multan, where the spinner scored an impressive nine. With this crucial win, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series against the West Indies.

Well, the seasoned spinner famous for his trademark ‘thigh-five feast’ will always remember this Multan Test match against the West Indies National Cricket Team as his dream came true at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The off-spinner had earlier expressed his desire to see teammates Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwa join him in the trademark celebration if he manages to take five wickets in the West Indies’ chase in Multan.

Sajid fulfilled his promise by taking a crucial five-wicket haul to help the hosts successfully defend their 251-run target in the opener of the two-match Test series. A stellar performance from the off-spinner shattered the West Indies batting line-up as the tourists managed just 123 runs as the hosts cruised to a one-sided victory in the Multan Test on Sunday.

Pakistan Cricket shared a video on its official X handle, where Sajid Khan can be seen doing his famous celebration along with captain Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Rizwan and Babar were seen recreating Sajid’s high-five celebration as the trio shared some heartwarming moments in Multan that went viral on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Sajid Khan was named Man of the Match for his impressive nine wickets in both innings in the first Test against the West Indies. He also admitted that it was a spin-friendly pitch that provided ample turn and bounce and the spinners used it effectively at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Sajid said in the post-match presentation, “The keeper had a lot of spin and bounce. The spin bowling coach spoke to me and in the second innings I bowled a bit slower and didn’t leak too many runs as I conceded runs later in the spell in the first innings.

Nauman Ali talks to me a lot because he is very experienced. We didn’t want to give away runs in the second innings and that was great. I wanted to bat well. But I went for a stroke from the inside out and it didn’t come out. Obviously, the kick was not on this field (laughs).

It should be noted that Sajid has crossed 50 test wickets for Pakistan in only his 11th match. He reached the milestone at an average of 27.73 and has three four-wicket hauls and four five-wicket hauls to his name in the longest format of the game so far.

In six home Tests, Sajid claimed 34 wickets at an average of 31.03, including three five-wicket hauls, while in five away Tests he picked up 21 wickets at an average of 22.71. In addition, Sajid has an impressive record in first-class cricket, with 294 wickets to his name.
