The New York Mets continued their postseason run to the National League Championship Series with a big offseason.
After the postseason ended, all eyes turned to top free agent prospect Juan Soto.
Although the process seemed to take forever, the Mets eventually came out on top and signed Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract.
The Giants got their man, but there are nine hitters in the lineup and one of their top hitters remains an unsigned free agent.
New York sports icon Tiki Barber revealed who is to blame for Pete Alonso’s situation.
“He was talked into doing something stupid. So I blame Pete,” Barber said, via WFAN Sports Radio.

The 30-year-old first baseman has played all six seasons of his MLB career with the Mets.
Barber said Alonso’s mistake was hiring Scott Boras, thinking the agent could make him one of the highest-paid players in baseball.
While Alonso is a very good player, he is not on the same level as Soto, and setting his expectations so high could ruin his chances of making it back to the Bigs.
In 2024, Alonso played in all 162 games and batted .240 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI and a .788 OPS.
Alonso will be one of the free agents to watch as his market may take a turn after he offered to accept a three-year contract from the Mets that did not result in a deal.
