14th edition of the book Big Bash League (BBL) with only three matches left in the regular season, it is entering its most exciting phase. Sydney derby between lightning and Sixers failed due to rain. With that, the three teams locked up their position in the qualifying round of the season.
The three teams that advanced to the BBL qualifiers.
Both the Thunder and Sixers have now completed their regular season games. With 6 wins and 2 losses, the Sixers finished 2nd in the league table with 14 points on the board, but the Thunder made a strong comeback after a slow start to the season and finished 3rd with 12 points with 5 wins.
However, The Hobart Hurricanes managed to finish the regular season at the top of the table with 7 wins and only 1 loss during the season. Interestingly, the Hurricanes still have a match to play against the Melbourne Stars, which proves to be the biggest risk for the stars as it will determine their chances of making the playoffs. Currently, these 3 teams have qualified for the playoffs.

Scoreboard status
The BBL points table currently paints a partially clear picture of the finals scenario. Although 3 teams have qualified for the next round, the fourth team that will play in the knockout round against Sydney Thunder has not yet been determined. The two most likely candidates for the last place Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat they are currently ranked 4th and 5th respectively.
Both teams have one game each. As the Stars prepare to clash against the league leaders Hurricanes, the Heat will play their final game against the bottom-placed team. Melbourne Renegades. The two teams are tied with 8 and 7 points, respectively, and the result of the final match of the regular season will determine which team secures the final spot.
The Stars will only have a clear shot at the top 4 if they beat the Hurricanes. However, with the Renegades and Heat set to play each other a day before their game, they will already have an idea of their chances. For the Heat, they will not only have to beat the Renegades but also dominate the game and emerge as convincing match winners to put pressure on the Stars.
