Shakur Stevenson is convinced that challenger Floyd Schofield may pull out of their fight on February 22, with some excuse that he dreamed of crawling out of the match.
WBC lightweight champion Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) says Team Schofield’s accusations that he has a spy in camp to learn secrets, that he slashes tires, and that he messes with his passport are all signs that he’s going undress.
Shakur predicts pulling out
It’s not a good idea for Stevenson to continue to discuss his unproven theory that Kid Austin is pulling out of the fight because he’s talking down the match, and it will cause fans to lose interest. He needs to talk about the fight and try to get fans excited about it.
However, Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) doesn’t seem afraid of Stevenson, and he sounds confident that he’ll be able to walk him down and put a pounding on the light punching champion. We don’t know how well Shakur will hold up in the fight because he is coming off surgery on his right hand, and he still didn’t use that hand during practice last week.
“It just seems to me that they are trying to get out of the fight. They say, ‘He did it all,’ and then when they don’t show up for the fight, that will be an excuse. They will try to blame me and say something I did. Some fake s*** to sit out the fight,” Shakur Stevenson said Cigar talk about Floyd Schofield and his father.
“I don’t have to. We’re dealing with Kid Austin. I’ve seen him fight. He’s going to throw a big hard left hand,” Shakur said when asked about the claims Team Schofield made about them believing Stevenson had spies trying to get information on their training methods.
“He (Schofield) is going to switch, and then throw the hard left hand over the top. He’s going to throw a hard left hook. His right hand isn’t really s***. It’s science. Nothing new will happen. He’s not going to beat anybody else,” Shakur said.
It will be interesting to know if Shakur really believes Schofield is trying to get out of the fight, as it suggests that his beliefs are not based in reality. Stevenson is not a good judge of people as it is clear that Kid Austin is not going to back out of the fight and see this as his big opportunity. The money is good, and this is Floyd’s chance to turn himself into a star by winning.
If Schofield is scared?
“I don’t have to do any extracurricular s*** to benefit from it. I think he’s scared, and I’m starting to get scared that he might pull out of the fight. I train my a**, signed, and then you pull out of the fight. That’s some b*** a** s*** bro,” Shakur said.
“I don’t even have to watch tape (of Schofield). I’ve seen him before. I know what to expect,” Shakur said.
