This Toulon ultra limited sportsman pays homage to the home of golf

Toulon and sons Scotland Small group shooter

The sole is inspired by the classic storefront signs of the original club shops that once lined the fairways near the 18th hole of the Old Course in St. Andrews.

Toulon

Watchers of Toulon’s small groups emphasize the word “small” because this is not your special edition. Only 75 were made and distributed worldwide by Toulon, increasing the exclusivity of these unique creations.

The last one Toulon and Sons Scotland Small Batch checks a bunch of boxes for shooting enthusiasts. Toulon Golf was founded in 2015 – currently run by an industry veteran Sean Toulon and two of his sons, Tony and Preston – but if the oyster maker had been established a century and a half ago in Scotland, it might have been called Toulon and Sons.

Hence the throwback name for a shooter that mixes old-school accents with forward-thinking design attributes.

Made of 904L stainless steel, the hollow back tailpiece design features a modified H1 clutch and squared shoulders and bumper. The blade length was lengthened by 4.5 inches and widened to bring the head to modern proportions. The increased size serves another benefit, increasing the overall MOI (Moment of Inertia) for improved stability on off-center shots.

Small Batch Scotland pays homage to vintage barrel design, but as always, modernizes it so that the finished shooter is not just nostalgic in all the nicest ways, but one that would still play today at the highest levels . This meant that in addition to the look of every beam, mix and ratio meticulously worked out, it had to sound and feel just as great. To modernize the Scotland, we added a modified H1 sheath to the classic tail design, lengthened the blade length to a modern 4.5 inches, and designed a tailored and elegant design with square off-shoulders and bumper. The hollow design allows us to bring the model into modern proportions in both length and width, but also enhances the Scottish MIA to make it very fake. Upon close inspection of the topline – and most apparent when viewing the barrel from the face in perspective – you’ll notice the raised and gently curved topline design. This not only pays homage to the great tail designs from the past, but subtly shifts the CG to the center of the head, improving the overall sound and feel and performance. To complete the Small Batch Scotland, we collaborated with our dear friends at Seamus Golf to create a beautiful Toulon & Sons woolen cover in an iconic Scottish tartan pattern.

When facing the golfer, golfers will likely notice the raised top line at the toe. Known as a classic “push” design, the subtle shape change shifts the center of gravity to the middle of the head to improve sound, feel and performance benefits.

The sole is inspired by the classic storefront signs of the original club shops that once lined the fairways near the 18th hole of the Old Course in St. Andrews. The silhouette of the dog positioned at the toe is important for several reasons. On Sundays, the Old Course closes and turns into a dog park. Many of the family clubbing businesses that lined the street in St. The Andrews also had a store dog.

For this occasion, Toulon chose a silhouette of their shop dog, Jack, who sadly and unexpectedly passed away a month ago. The silhouette on the shooter turned into an unintentional tribute to their beloved dog.

Each putter is protected by a Scottish-inspired fleece cover – a collaboration between Toulon and Seamus Golf.

“They’ve been friends of ours for about a decade now and we definitely wanted to work with them on something like this,” said Preston Toulon, “It’s the perfect cherry on top of this project.”

The putter is currently sold out on Toulon’s official website, but Fairway Jockey has a limited supply of Toulon and Sons Scotland Small Batch putters (35 inches) available for $1,800. And look at all of Toulon shooting lineup here.
