Turki Al-Sheikh’s plan: give anger “a little time” before comeback talks

Turki Al-Sheikh says he is going to talk to the recently retired Tyson Fury to bring him back. He says he wants to give ‘The Gypsy King’ “a while” to be with his family before talking to him about fighting.

Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) may still be salty about his recent loss to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on Dec. 21 in Riyadh. At the post-fight press conference, he was in full denial mode, unwilling to accept that Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) had soundly beaten him in his 12-round unanimous decision win.

Childish reaction

Tyson claimed he won by three rounds, and many of his fans supported this delusion by saying the same thing. Interestingly, Tyson also felt that he won the first fight with Usyk. He just thinks he was worked by the judges and is bitter about it.

The retirement bit was a classic knee-jerk reaction from the ‘Gypsy King’, as if to say: ‘You won’t want me kicking around anymore.’ He’s in full soak mode, being passive-aggressive to punish the boxing world for not giving him the win over Usyk.

It’s just so childish, but completely predictable from Fury. He wants his needs met with the victory he’s been given, and like most mature adults, he can’t accept defeat with a stiff upper limit. He cannot process the defeat.

“First of all, this kind of decision has to come from the fighters. Of course, as a fan of boxing, I don’t like it,” said Turki Al-Sheikh talkSport Boxing about Tyson Fury retiring.

“We want to see Tyson in more big fights, but I can understand his situation. You never know, this kind of decision can be changed over time. I will support him and discuss it with him. I will leave him for some time to be with his family, then we can discuss it.”

draw back anger

Of course Fury will fight again. When Turki blowing millions under his nose for a Joshua fight, he’ll be back and acting like his old self. Tyson loves money too much for him not to return to grab that cash for the AJ fights.
