ESPN reports Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney have agreed to suspend their lawsuit for 90 days. They reached a settlement to drop it.
The two fighters reached an agreement to fight later this year, and dropping the legal dispute will smooth the way for the fight.
Lawsuit on Hold
The settlement allows the lawsuit to be resolved, but it must be settled. After this is completed, the lawsuit will be dismissed. Ryan said that was the condition for him to negotiate a rematch with Haney.
Turki Al-Sheikh wants this rematch. Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) filed a lawsuit after testing positive for the banned substance, Ostarine, following his April 20 win over Devin.

Ryan revealed today that he has a mystery opponent for his next fight, and he “can’t wait” for fans to find out who it is. It’s not Haney. There isn’t a high level of interest in a second fight between them after Ryan obliterated him last April.
He won’t fight him again unless he drops his lawsuit. This makes sense for Haney, as he would likely get more money fighting Ryan again than he would from the lawsuit. Without a rematch, Haney would be stuck fighting other fighters for less money and a lot of risk.
Haney is not a big puncher, and his career prospects are not promising at 140 or 147. He did well initially moving up to light welterweight, again an old Regis Prograis, but it will be harder for him to fight other fighters who are still around. in their prime and can hit.
That’s why he should get the rematch with Ryan. Even if his career falls apart immediately afterward, he’ll have that big payday to live off of for the rest of his life.
Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia jointly asked the court Wednesday to halt the proceedings surrounding the lawsuit against Garcia for 90 days because of a preliminary settlement, according to a legal document obtained by ESPN.
