New presenters for the BBC’s Match of the Day have been confirmed


Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan have been confirmed as the next hosts of the BBC’s Match Of The Day.

The trio will replace presenter Gary Lineker, who has fronted the flagship show since 1999, while Alan Shearer and Micah Richards will continue in their roles as regular pundits.

“I know viewers will love these three incredible broadcasters and journalists at the heart of our football coverage next season,” BBC Sport director Alex Kay-Jelski said in a statement. “They are brilliant at what they do and MOTD viewers can be sure they will be well looked after as football’s big talking points are expertly analysed.

“Gary has done a phenomenal job on Match of the Day over the last 25 years, he will be sorely missed and we can all enjoy him on our screens at some of football’s biggest tournaments.

“Outside of Match of the Day, we have fantastic new shows, voices and surprises for the 2025-26 season across audio, video and digital and we look forward to sharing them with you all later in the year.

“It’s a really exciting time for BBC Sport’s football coverage.”

Chapman, Cates and Logan will also split duties presenting Sunday’s Matchday 2 program as well as midweek Champions League featured shows

Lineker’s departure is the second high-profile departure from Match of the Day following Ian Wright’s decision to leave the program at the end of the 2023/24 season. the first arsenal forward, who won the Premier League title in the 1997/98 season, he left 27 years after he first appeared as a pundit while still an active player.
