The transfer from Arsenal is the goal of Ronald Araujo to stay at Barcelona

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Barcelona are “now convinced” that they will keep defender Ronald Araujo this January despite speculation about his future.

The Uruguayan international has mostly been a key player for Barça in recent years, but there are other options in defense as well and it seems that this has led to some doubts about his situation.

Arsenal were then linked with Araujo in a recent report by Marcbut now it seems Romano is happy to stamp out reports from elsewhere about the player seemingly set to stay at Camp Nou.

Watch below for more details as Romano clears up the latest on the Araujo situation…

Mention Romano Juventus are also interested in Araujobut Arsenal get no mention, so it remains to be seen how specific those links really were.

It’s fairly common to see multiple names thrown around even though the interest isn’t that strong, but either way, the Gunners certainly won’t be getting Araujo through the door anytime soon.

Arsenal making a move for Araujo never really made much sense anyway, as it’s hard to see where the 25-year-old would have fitted in alongside Mikel Arteta.

AFC already have the excellent pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, and they can also use the likes of Ben White, Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Jakub Kiwior to play there if needed.

Even if Araujo is a good player and perhaps an intriguing market opportunity, it seems to make little sense to bring in a big name like that just to bench him.

Araujo himself probably wouldn’t agree to leave a big club like Barcelona just to become a player in the squad, so maybe that’s why, in the end, he wants to stay where he is for now.
