The Major League Baseball offseason is filled with excitement and drama, whether it’s related to free agent signings or trades.
Some big players and offensive players have switched teams before the 2025 season, including quarterback Juan Soto, linebacker Kyle Tucker, starting shortstop Corbin Burns, starting shortstop Max Fried and starting shortstop Blake Snell.
One position that has been left out of the excitement is the relief pitcher market, which hasn’t seen much action in the offseason so far.
The position is starting to gain some traction, however, as teams are now showing interest in some free agent relief pitchers.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman’s “X,” relief pitcher Tommy Kahnle has interest from eight MLB teams.

Relief pitchers may seem less fan-favorite compared to relievers and starters, but they are essential to any team’s success.
Kahnle entered the league in 2014 with the Colorado Rockies and has played for four different teams in his 10-season MLB career.
With the New York Yankees in 2024, Kahn appeared in 50 games and posted a 0-2 record with a 2.11 ERA, one save and 46 strikeouts in 42.2 innings.
Kahnle is 35 years old, but he’s proven he can still be a difference maker in 2024 with his low ERA.
Most MLB teams are always looking for help in their bullpen, and the market for relief pitchers seems to be opening up this season.
It will be interesting to see if relief pitchers start signing quickly now that the floodgates seem to be opening.
