Insider Reveals Why So Many Good MLB Free Agents Left

Major League Baseball’s free agent class is loaded with talent this offseason and has already seen many big-name players switch teams ahead of the 2025 season.

While many players have already signed, including Juan Soto, Corbin Burns, Blake Snell, Max Fried and Willie Adams, there are still plenty of big names on the free agent market.

Some of the players still available include Rocky Sasaki, Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso and many others.

MLB insider Ken Rosenthal revealed why there are still plenty of good free agents left on the board.

“That’s the pace of baseball’s free agency, it goes at its own pace, there’s no deadline, there’s no clock,” Rosenthal said, via Foul Territory on The X .

Rosenthal ultimately revealed that MLB free agency goes at its own pace, and that’s just the way it is.

Unlike other major sports, there are no deadlines or timers for deals, so it naturally takes some time for players to sign.

While that might frustrate fans, it might also keep the offseason interesting as a whole instead of being dormant for weeks at a time.

Sasaki, the top available free agent, meets with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, and there’s a chance he could sign as early as this week.

Teams often wait to see where a certain player goes before deciding which route they want to take with other free agents, which can also lead to delays in free agent signings.

The MLB offseason should continue to keep fans on their toes as they wait for the 2025 regular season to begin.
