Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out managing a club under the Red Bull umbrella, but has left the door open to taking charge of another team in the future.
Klopp ended his trophy-laden tenure as Liverpool manager last summer, announcing his surprise decision to step down as a result of fatigue. The open German provoked even more controversial when it was announced as a head of world football for Red Bull’s vast football network, which includes Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, Austrian giants RB Salzburg and Leeds United.
Red Bull revealed Klopp’s arrival in October, but he only officially took over on the first day of 2025. In his introduction press conference, which covered a wide range of topics, the former Liverpool the boss suppressed any whispers that might be inserted into the dugout of a RB outfit.
“I will not coach a Red Bull team. That is a clear commitment,” Klopp declared. “But I can’t say I won’t coach again in my life.”
He has been extensively linked with Klopp assuming the German selectionbut revealed that he needed a break from the slog of day-to-day management.
“When you’re on the job for 25 years, it’s very intense,” Klopp outlined “The only thing is that I’m a very curious person and I couldn’t feed it anymore.
“It was just game after game after game. You maintain a specific level and I wasn’t too happy with it to be honest. I always want to try to learn new things and I felt when I heard about the role that’s what I was going to do.
“I no longer have to improve the game in individual places, but I want to make football better all over the world. I no longer have to prepare a new game every week, but work on the big picture.”
