14-year-old Ira Jadhav etched her name into the record books after her magnificent effort with the bat in the U-19 Women’s One Day Cup on Sunday (January 12). She became the first Indian women cricketer to score three centuries in a limited-overs match.
Ira Jadhav achieved this feat while playing for Mumbai against Meghalaya in the Under-19 Girls One Day Cup. The encounter between the two teams took place at the Alur Cricket Ground, which saw history being written by the young batsman.
Ira Jadhav played a mammoth knock of 346* runs off 157 balls to help Mumbai post a total of 563 runs on the board.
Ira Jadhav, who was named as one of India’s three reserve players in the upcoming U-19 Women’s World Cup, played a big innings of 346 runs off 157 balls. This saw his team, Mumbai, post a huge total on the board and take command of the game.
Ira Jadhav was at his aggressive best as he hit 42 fours and 16 sixes in his innings. The 14-year-old made no mistake in his batting as captain Hurley added 274 runs for the second wicket with Gala (116) and then put on 186 runs for the third wicket with Diksha Pawar (39). .
Thanks to his magnificent effort with the bat, Mumbai posted a total of 563 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets in 50 overs. Her innings would surely send a strong message to the selectors and might even force them to include her in the starting line-up for the upcoming U-19 Women’s World Cup.

Ira Jadhav also became the first Indian cricketer to reach three centuries in 50-over cricket. If given a chance in the starting line-up for the World Cup, he would look to perform well in the tournament and help the team to lift the tournament.
Her stunning effort with the bat saw even former Indian Women’s National Cricket Team captain Diana Edulji praising her for the effort. He told the Times of India: “Hats off to Ira, an U-15 player who has played in all age groups. Hope to see him in Indian colours.”

Excluding her, only four women cricketers have scored a double century at the U19 level. These include current India captain Smriti Mandhana (224 not out in 2013), Raghvi Bist (219 not out), Jemimah Rodrigues (202 not out) and Sanika Chalke (200).
