West Ham United went down in the FA Cup to Aston Villa on Friday.

The West Midlands club ran out 2-1 winners and West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta was hit by popular pundit Paul Robinson during the game. The Brazilian, 27, has not been at his best this season and his antics cost him a goal against Aston Villa.

The Brazilian was seen marking Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa during a corner, but went down easily as the two players grappled. Aston Villa managed to score from the corner.

Robinson revealed the Brazilian went to ground easily and could have helped prevent the goal if he had stayed on his feet.

Talking about it FA Cup World FeedRobinson said: “That was a very poor dive from Paqueta. West Ham look shell-shocked.”

Paqueta has had a difficult season with West Ham so far on and off the pitch. Apart from his mediocre performanceshas been embroiled in a gambling scandalwhich could result in a lengthy ban.

The midfielder was outstanding for West Ham after joining the club, but his Premier League form has dipped in recent months. It will be interesting to see if he can escape a ban and get his career back on track in the coming months.

There is no doubt that he is a quality player and should be at a high level for a big club. He was linked with a move to Manchester City before the betting allegations emerged and the Premier League champions have since cooled their interest in him.
