What a difference a week makes. Former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama won his first Signature Event title of the year in record fashion at Kapalua last week, with a four-round score of 35 under par. Yet this week? First place on the Sony leaderboard after 36 holes belongs to co-leaders Patrick Fishburn and Denny McCarthywho are 10 under par and one shot ahead of three players on nine under and five other players on eight under. Both Fishburn and McCarthy are looking for their first PGA Tour wins this week.
They will play in Saturday’s final bracket at Waialae on Saturday along with Kensei Hirata (-9) at 3pm ET.
