Man goes to Bryson DeChambeau’s house – and holes in one after 5 swings

Jimmy asked the question apparently everyone who had seen him before asked themselves.

What WILL what happens if he breaks a window?

Bryson DeChambeauhowever, it had things covered. Literally. Should Jimmy be weakened? IN DeChambeau’s home run as he tried to field a ball long that and on a backyard hole, nets placed near the makeshift tee box would catch the vagrant.

Confused? That’s part of the attraction here. What went down? in a video released Thursday by DeChambeau, a two-time major winner, wasn’t conventional second-shot-to-second-shot golf, and DeChambeau became a bit of a star in that space, doing so on the burgeoning medium of YouTube. There, he has tried to break 50 of the pillars ahead. He offered lessons. He’s tried challenges — including one recently that drew curiosity and clicks.

Could he do a hole in one over his house? The shot was about 100 meters. The height to clear his roof was 33 feet. DeChambeau told himself he could take one swing on day one, then, if he failed, take two on day two, three on day three, and so on—and on day 16, he made it. Millions watched.

Most likely, millions of people also thought: how would Joe or Jane Schmo fare?

Or Jimmy?

How about 100 grenades?

DeChambeau let him try. In Thursday’s video, DeChambeau was handing out money through a sponsor for various challenges, and the latest brought a man named Jimmy to his home for the six-figure payout attempt. He could do as many swings as he wanted — from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and DeChambeau figured he would, although it would be a marathon.

His guess was that it would take Jim 5 hours and 43 minutes.

“I think there’s going to be some ups and downs in this challenge for him,” DeChambeau said in the video. “He’s really going to fight right away. He won’t be comfortable. He won’t know how far to hit. What is a 95 yard shot? As we tell him where the balls are landing, where they’re going, I think he’ll start to get into his flow. And then about three hours later, he’ll start fighting. It will be so much. His back is going to be sore, everything is going to be sore, and I think in 5 hours, 43 minutes or something like that, he’s finally going to do it.”

Shot one? From a 54-degree wedge, his ball was long. “Hey, I got it on the net,” Jimmy said. “I was very happy about that.”

Shot twice? Long.

Shot three? At 58 degrees this time, he was tall again.

Shot four? Spin up and right.

How long will this go on?

One more swing.

Shot five? In. Jimmy’s ball fell short of the flag and to his left, and rolled from there for the ace.

A producer shouted. Bryson and Jimmy hugged. They pushed each other away. They hugged again. They pushed each other again. Jimmy walked around. He threw his hat down. He ran into the backyard. Yes, he made it. DeChambeau did some math. He took out his phone and showed that it was 10:06.

Jimmy only needed six minutes.

“It took me a whopping 134 balls.” DeChambeau said in the video — then dropped his phone.

Jimmy then called his wife, Kaydee.

Said Jimmy, “Uh, we just won $100,000.”

Kaidi said, “What?”

Another good question.
