Man City, Real Madrid and more learn destiny in a new format


Draw for the 2024/25 UEFA league stage Champions League took place on Thursday afternoon in Monaco, with the giants of European football discovering their opponents for the new competition.

Real Madrid are the reigning champions after defeating Borussia Dortmund in last season’s final, but the Whites will have more teams to overcome this time around due to the competition being expanded from 32 to 36 teams.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa are the four English clubs taking part in the competition, joining the likes of Barcelona, ​​Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter, all of which will have a chance to enter the competition.

The dates for each match will not be confirmed until Saturday, but UEFA have revealed when each matchday will take place. While the previous format saw the group stage end by Christmas, the new Swiss model will take the league stage until the end of January.

The teams that finished ninth to 24th will compete in the knockout stages in February for places in the round of 16, where the clubs ranked first to eighth will be waiting.
