Insider reveals what he’s hearing about Alex Bregman, Tigers

Last season, the Detroit Tigers surprised everyone in baseball after making the postseason for the first time since 2014, going 86-76.

After being eliminated mid-season, the Tigers not only made the playoffs, but also swept the Houston Astros in the wild-card round.

The Tigers headed into the offseason hoping to improve their young roster in an attempt to make another postseason appearance.

Already with two noteworthy acquisitions in right-handed starter Alex Cobb and infielder Gleyber Torres, the Tigers can turn their attention to another star free agent.

“I think the Tigers would love to have Alex Bregman, but up to a point,” insider Cody Stavenhagen said, via Foul Territory .

Stavenhagen revealed that Bregman’s move to the Tigers is not imminent, with other teams also interested in the third baseman, including the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays.

The Tigers want to sign Bregman, but they may not be willing to spend top dollar to make a deal.

Bregman is one of the best players in free agency and many will be on him until he signs.

With the Astros in 2024, Bregman played 145 games and batted .260 with 26 home runs, 75 RBI and a .768 OPS.

The Tigers will be a team to keep an eye on as Bregman weighs his options.
